Friendly Plumbing, a licensed and insured plumbing company, services Hyde Park and the surrounding communities with 24 hour emergency plumbing service. The also offer plumbing repair service (toilet repair, faucet repairs, fixing clogged toilets, water heater repairs drain cleaning) Installation service ( water heater Installation, gas stove installations etc)

Choosing a good plumber is not as hard as you might think. The best advice is to be informed about the work you need to have done. Take a little extra time to find out what is involved in doing the job. Find out from your local supply house the cost of the parts involved. Sometimes you can purchase these parts yourself to make things cheaper. If the plumber tells you he will not warranty your own parts, that okay because the manufacture will. Choose a plumber that offers a warranty on his own work.

Call around to find out what other company’s will charge for the same job. That way you will know around what it should cost to have the job done. Never wait to get your only quote while the plumber it in your home to do the job. The problem with most plumbing company’s is that there is no set prices, they can charge whatever they see fit. In most cases that means the plumber will judge what he wants to charge you or what he thinks you can afford. Meaning if you live in a big lavish home you will pay more than someone who lives in a small older home, for the same work. It pays to fine a company in your area that has standard prices for everyone.

The cheapest plumber is by far not the best one. Often that means they are not licensed to do the work. In that instance you don’t want an inspector knocking at your door, looking for your permits. You will end up paying more in the end, after you pay fines, permit costs, and a licensed plumber to come out and finish the job. That doesn’t mean find the most expense plumber either. The ones who charge the most, have high over head, and you are paying for all of their fancy advertising.

Find a professional company that has been in the business for 10 or more years. That means they are stable and probably not going out of business soon. That way they will be around to uphold your warranty. Pay attention to the manner in which they conduct business. Do they have a professional feel, or do they look like they have just crawled out of a sewer somewhere. How did they answer the phone when you called. Was it pleasant, “Hello, thank you for calling, how can I help you?” or just “Service”. Also, how did they arrive at your house to give you your estimate? Did they pull up in there personal vehicle, or did they show up in a fully lettered van.

Your plumber should never track muddy boots on your carpets. They should be wearing shoe covers when you answer the door. Ask them to lay down tarps, when it is needed to pull dirty equipment over carpeting. They will, and a good plumber will do it without you having to ask.

Lastly if you are uncomfortable with your plumber, get a second opinion. You don’t have to get the work done by the same person who diagnosed the problem. Always find the plumber that is right for you. Some company’s offer a discount for routine costumers, so when you fine the right plumber stick with him and don’t be afraid to request only him. Although it might take a little longer to get that technician to your home, instead of who ever in the company is first available. Remember its your home and you are calling the shots

It is widely accepted to get 3 estimates for the work, review the proposals and pick the best company. Well, where do you get the names to invite in to bid your project?

The best solution is to ask friends and family in and around Warren Michigan if they have any recommendation. This is far better than doing a Google search for roofers in warren mi and rolling the dice.

Make sure their contractors license is current and in good standing. If its not, they will not be able to pull a building permit. Do not allow any home improvement begin without a permit. Trying to avoid this step for any reason, financial or otherwise is a real good sign, you did not hire a professional.

Make sure you get atleast 3 of the roofers most recent references and one older one. 3 is the minimum! Anyone working in the roofing field as a professional works everyday. Call them all, any wrong numbers are not a mistake, its a red flag (they had the number right when they wanted to get paid). You will not get a bad reference, if i did 100 jobs and only three were done right, guess which three i’m giving you. But it is important to do your part.

Be sure to ask for the name and number of their insurance company, roofing insurance and workman’s comp, is terribly expensive. These costs are built into the estimate. You are paying for this insurance coverage, its up to you to make sure you are getting what you pay for. Make sure that the insurance company understands the scope of the work being done. Many roofing contractors have insurance for say, installing windows or carpentry, to scale the high cost of roofing insurance, and if someone falls off the roof, the insurance company wont pay, if they discover the truth during there investigation (roofers need roofers insurance).

Another great source to find roofers in Michigan is to use Owens Roofers Referral Service which is owned by two roofing veterans Craig Owens and Ken Perry. They match you up with only qualified roofing professionals so you can avoid the headaches that most home owners face when choosing the wrong roofing contractor.

Are you in need of a new roof for your Jamaica Plain Home? Need a Professional roofing contractor that has been roofing in Jamaica Plain for almost 30 years? Do you need a roofing company that carry’s all the proper licensing and insurance to work on your home? One that will honor its “best in the business” 15 year warranty ( Yes, if anything were to go wrong with your roof it will be fixed at no charge for the next 15 years - and it’s transferable!) Call on the roofing pro’s at David Ness Jr. Construction - right Now (888-637-7571) or click the banner to visit their site!

If your Jamaica Plain home needs a new roof or a roof repair there is no bad time to do it. However if you can plan when to have the job completed (non-emergency situation) then pick the best time of year for your climate. In some areas early Spring kicks off the roofing replacement season while other areas need a few more weeks.

If you have hired a professional roofing contractor they will not only pick the right time of year they will also try to plan the best time weather wise to complete the job. Ripping off a roof one day only to have a torrential downpour the next will cause major problems for the homeowner. So if you are planning to do the job yourself you better keep an eye on the weather channel and not underestimate the amount of time it will take to get the new roof on. You may think you can get it done in a day but if your buddy who promised he would come to help doesn’t show you will fall behind. So do yourself a favor and make sure you have some padding in the weather forecast so you don’t get caught up in a storm and not have a roof on your house.

For over 30 years David Ness jr Construction has been roofing in Mansfield ma. click the banner below for their 15- 30 year roof warranty!

There is one general rule of thumb all homeowners need to keep in mind, if you cannot walk on your roof easily (either because of it being too steep or because it is too slick) call a professional roofing contractor to perform any work that needs to be done. Roofing work is extremely dangerous and each year many people who thought they could save money by doing it themselves end up with an even bigger hospital bill from the injuries they suffered as a result of a fall from their roofs. Not to mention the other costs, such as the severe amount of pain and the length of time needed to recover from the injuries—assuming a full recovery is possible.

Talk to your insurance agent too. Why? There may be a clause in your homeowner’s insurance policy requiring you to hire our certain home repairs. Insurance companies weigh the risks involved and the average costs associated with injuries and they want to limit their liability. If you do the work yourself and get injured they may not have to pay the full amount of your coverage. Even if you hire the work out to a professional roofing company you will want to do a quick check with your insurance company to make sure you are fully covered should an injury occur. Also make sure that the contractor you hire is insured and licensed.

Need Roof Replacement in Mansfield, Ma - Visit DavidNessjr.com - Installing a roof is an incredibly arduous task. Bearing that fact in mind, look for referrals to find a contractor who can get the job done quickly, safely, and at a price you can afford. You can check the yellow pages and local business directories but do not discount your close circle of friends and family as a source of information. Ask a lot of questions and get as many different inputs as you can. A roofing project is a significant investment so you want to make certain that you hire the right contractor for your situation. Call around and get several estimates before signing a contract.

Make sure the price you are quoted is a complete cost so that you won’t be billed later for odd expenses like roll off trash bin rental and disposal fees. You want an all inclusive price quote from the contractors. Compare the expenses each contractor gives you to make sure they all list the same things. If one contractor’s estimate does not list some expense and all the others do, that may be why that estimate is so much lower than all the others.

Adding a garage to your home can be one of the best home improvement projects you could ever do. Not only will a garage addition add significantly to your home’s value, but it will give you lots of extra storage and keep your vehicles and other machinery protected from the weather. A garage addition is a significant home improvement project and can be expensive. Here are some tips on how to estimate your costs for adding a garage to your house.

Step 1 Decide on the size of the garage

The size of the garage will be in large dependent on the size of your house and lot. You also need to determine what you will use your garage for. Is it primarily to store one or two cars, do you need extra storage or workshop space? These are all questions that will help you determine the size of your garage. Obviously, the larger your garage is the more materials it will take, and this will add to the cost.

Step 2 Find out the zoning and coding restrictions for your garage

Make sure to do this early in your garage addition project. Find out what permits you need and what their costs will be.

Step 3 Obtain quotes from at least 3 general contractors

Price quotes can vary significantly from contractor to contractor so you will want to get at least three quotes so that you can compare pricing. Be sure to do your homework and check to see that the contractor complies with all licensing requirements, is fully insured, is experienced with garage additions, and can provide you with good references from satisfied customers.

Step 4 Select a garage door

Usually the generally contractor leaves it up to the homeowner to select their garage door and some other finishing touches. You can find garage doors at home improvement stores. The quality of the garage door and design will factor into the cost.

Step 5 Compare the quotes from the general contractors.

Don’t make your final decision on a contractor on price alone. Remember to factor in their qualifications, level of professionalism, their experience with garage additions, their references, your rapport with the contractors and any other factors that are important to you.

Step 6 Select your general contractor and sign a contract

Once you have selected the general contractor for your garage addition, you will need to sign a contract. Be sure to read all the fine print to make sure all the costs are spelled out, the start and end dates, a payment schedule, and any other things you have agreed to.

If you do your homework and plan your garage addition ahead of time, you should be able to get a garage built that fits your needs and budget.

Home improvement projects can be very expensive as well as time and labor intensive. In order to make sure you get the best value for your money and a home improvement project you will be happy with, you need to plan ahead and do some upfront research. Here are 7 tips for how to save money on home improvement costs.

Tip #1 Honestly assess what parts of the home improvement project you can do yourself.

Depending on your experience and skill level, you may be able to do all or part of the home improvement project yourself. This will definitely save money, but you do need to be honest with yourself about your skills and also put a value on your time. General contractors and other specialists may cost money, but in the long run may actually be the most efficient and effective choice. You may be able to do some of the demolition work and trash removal, painting, landscaping and other parts of the project. Identify these ahead of time to help cut down on costs.

Tip #2 Look for materials and tools on sale

Home improvement stores often have sales where you can buy materials and tools at drastically reduced prices. Look for sales and comparison shop to get the best deals. Being a smart shopper can save you a lot of money on your next home improvement project.

Tip #3 Get at least 3 quotes from general contractors

If you decide that you do need to hire a general contractor for your home improvement project, make sure to thoroughly check their qualifications, experience, and references. Ask for bids on the same exact project so you can compare them. Don’t necessarily go for the lowest bid. Cheaper isn’t always better. Weigh all the other important factors like experience, professionalism and your rapport with the contractor. Even though you will not want to make your final decision on price alone, getting several quotes can save you money and also help you find the most qualified contractor.

Tip #4 Make sure your contract is comprehensive and everything is detailed and clearly spelled out

Once you decide on a general contractor, make sure you read all the fine print before signing a contract. All the costs for material and labor should be detailed, start and completion date included, and warranties spelled out. Never work with a contractor who isn’t thorough and who will not clearly explain all the aspects of the job to you.

Tip #5 Schedule your home improvement project for the off season

If your home improvement project is seasonal, you can save a lot of money by scheduling during a time when the contractor is not in such high demand. For example, have central air installed in the winter.

Tip #6 Consider less expensive alternatives

Hello, I have some tips for those of you out there who are thinking of turning your child’s bedroom into more than just a room for sleeping. Here are a few fun ideas to spice up his or her personal wonderland:

1. Paint A Mural: One easy way to give your child’s room a fun theme, is to paint a multiple wall mural. It can be anything from a giant pink castle, to a pirate ship, or even barnyard scene for a more rural setting. This can be an inexpensive way to add a lot of life to even the most drab of living environments.

2. Stencils: If you don’t want to shell out the cost of hiring someone to paint you a mural, there is always the do it yourself approach you can take by using a stencil to add some life to your walls. You can stencil the name of your child’s favorite sports teams, or favorite TV shows, or animated characters the sky is the limit. They also have picture stencils, so it doesn’t necessarily have to be text only.

3. Let Your Child Paint a Portion of the Wall: This may throw warning flags to a concerned parent, but there are fun and safe ways to let your child join in on the painting process. You can leave an outline of their name, and let them color in the letters. You can also allow the painting to be a little abstract, and let them splash paint onto various parts of the scape.

4. Fun Furniture: Of course your child will need a place to lounge around with his young friends, but it doesn’t necessarily have to be the tiny plastic chairs that we have been accustomed to seeing in children’s bedrooms. They have everything from football shaped chairs, to teddy bear beanbags, all the way to the other spectrum of princess beds with a canopy or a bed shaped like a fire engine for the little firefighter in your house.

5. Colored Lighting: Add some pizazz to the room by changing up your traditional lighting. You can do this by using a color filtered lampshade, or the easier approach…getting a colored light bulb! This can be a very inexpensive way to add color to your child’s room. There are also posters that can be complimented by a black or red light to add a little more to the decor.

6. Designated Play Area: By giving your child a designated play area, it can give the appearance of a room within a room. It will also help keep the room clean, as one designated play area ensures that “the damage will be contained”.

7. Ask Them For Ideas: I think that since he or she will be the one spending most of the time there, that their input is important. Whether it is paint scheme, furniture, lighting, or arrangement I am sure your child has an opinion. Its your job as the parent to filter the good from the outlandish.

Hopefully, with the tips I have given you, the decoration of your child’s bedroom will be a fun and relatively painless process!

Okay, so you have just made that giant leap from living with your parents to living in your very own dorm room. You have no idea what to expect, but when you open the door for the first time you are a little under whelmed. A college dorm can be as basic as it gets, but it doesn’t have to stay that way. I’m going to give you a little advice on how you can add some life your college dorm room.

A. Maximize Your Space
It doesn’t have to feel like GitMo. I know you are feeling a little claustrophobic, but if you make the most out of the little space you have it doesn’t have to feel so cramped. Consider sharing a bunk bed with your roommate, it will free up space for both of you. Also, try not to let clutter build up. One of the easiest ways to lose space is let your area become swallowed in clutter.

B. Stay Organized
I touched on this above, but staying organized is the first step in bringing life to your dorm. This includes getting the most out of your storage areas, and not saving items that serve little to no purpose.

C. Bring A Little Piece Of Home With You
While it might not strike you at first, chances are you will get at least a little homesick during your stay. I find that bringing something from home to remember my family by can go a long way in both decoration and helping me miss home a little less. It can be a treasured picture, or a toy from your childhood. Just a token of reminder to help you along the way..

D. Do Something With Those Curtains!
College dormitory curtains can be some of the most hideous curtains that man has ever made. They are usually bland, and do the bare minimum as far as lighting is concerned. They don’t have to stay that way. You can get some nice curtains relatively inexpensively. You might try a flea market or yard sale to get the best bargain, but your local department store should have you covered if you choose to go that route. A window treatment can do a world of good as far as giving your dorm the proper lighting. It may help you with the boost of energy you need to keep studying for your finals.

E. Show Some School Spirit!
These are your new brothers and sisters for the foreseeable future, you might as well show a little pride. Your school store will undoubtedly offer a plethora of school related items. School officials may even be able to toss you a few for free (and they should after all the tuition you’re paying!). After graduation you will definitely want to keep these souvenirs for years to come.

If you use these tips, you will find it a little easier to turn your dorm room from a dwelling to a home. Feel free to be creative, and add your personality in every way imaginable. Good Luck!
